The Beauty Scenario Tag!

Hi Everyone! In my attempts to put up more beauty related posts, today I am going to treat you all to the beauty scenario tag...

1. You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high end and one drugstore, which do you keep?
This is a tough one as foundation is one of my most favourite make up items. My drugstore foundation would probably be the Revlon Colourstay foundation for oily/combination skin. This is a medium to full coverage foundation, it is amazing as it keeps my oily skin at bay, I can wear it for up 8 hours without having to powder, it also covers all my redness and blemishes! The high end foundation that I would pick is Mac's Studio Fix foundation, this basically does the same as the Revlon foundation but double the price, just a bloody great foundation.

2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?
Ignore it! I know what its like for someone to tell me about lipstick on my teeth... so embarrassing! I would just not look at it, its such a common mistake to happen.

3. You’re not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which lipstick do you put on to make yourself feel beautiful?
It has to be the MAC lipstick in 'Ruby Woo' it just screams 'I've got my life together' when inside I am sinking.

4. You go back in time for a day to your teenage years, how would you do your hair and makeup differently?
Well for starters I would not cut m hair into a bob at the age of 13... I ended up looking like a man in drag for about a year! I would also not straighten my hair everyday, that is some damaging shit! I would tell myself to embrace the natural wave in your hair, its cute! Make-up wise I would not wear any foundation, I didn't need it back then and it has just clogged my pores.

5. You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut, but they hear wrong and give you a pixi cut. Do you a) Smile, say thank you, leave and call your mum hysterical b) Cry in the chair and things get awkward or c) Complain to the manager and demand a refund.
I'm not going toile, I hate confrontation, so I would just say thanks then call my mum crying. Once hair has been cut off it cannot be stuck back one! Luckily I have one amazing hairdresser, so 'touch wood' that has never happened to me.

6. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which ‘do it all’ palette do you pack in your makeup bag?
It is 100% the naked 2 palette. It is just such a 'more than 8 look' palette. You can do lovely day time looks and also smoke it up for the night time... such a great palette.

7. Your house has been robbed, don’t worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What’s the product you really hope is safe?
My Make Up Revolution double ended eyeliner. That stuff is gold to me, its such a cheap product and so simple, but it is hands down my favourite eyeliner of all time. I use the thicker end to make my flick and join it to my lash line and then I use the thin end to fit in the line and also extend the line. Holy grail product!

8. Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) Just pretend you haven’t noticed b) Ask them to repurchase it or c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs.
I would be slightly pissed off if it was a expensive piece of makeup or if it was one of my favourite pieces, but I would just shrug it off, they probably didn't mean to do it, makeup gets grubby and breaks all the time, I wouldn't want to blame it on someone.

Until next time...

Things I want to acheive in 2015

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year! Christmas and new year were very quite for me, spending time with the family over Christmas and stuffing myself silly on new year... Bliss!

2014 was not a great year for me, so I am determined to make 2015 my year, so here are a list of a few things that I want to achieve in the coming year.

1. I want to loose weight. Now I know that this is a new years resolution for about 99% of the population, but I am serious. I have come to the point that looking in the mirror literally scares me to tears. I am not worried about the number on the scales or the size clothes I wear. I just want to feel comfortable in my own skin and actually like what I see in the mirror. To start on my weight loss journey, I have joined a gym. I am not going to go into too much detail about it as I have a whole post planned about the gym and my whole 'new lifestyle', but it is defiantly something that is changing for me in 2015.

2. I want to hate less. I find myself hating a lot of things recently, basically having a negative attitude towards everyone and everything. I genuinely do not mean to be so negative towards others, it just seems to be how I have moulded myself. I think it all stems from the reasoning that I don't really show my feelings often and thinking if I show any other feeling that negative ones then my walls will breakdown and I will be emotional venerable. So this year I am making a conscious effort to not speak and think so negatively, and see the good in everything.

3. Organise my life... all aspects of it! I am in no position to say that I am organised. In every aspect of my life I am all over the place, so this year I have decided that I am going to get things in order. In an ideal world I would plan my life down to the second. But in reality I don't have enough time in the day to do that. This past weekend I have had a huge de-clutter of my room at home, this has started me on the right track to organisation. As I am lucky to have a steady job with normal working hours I am hopefully going to start getting this blog off the ground, making a structure to it and having some sort of schedule to blog posts.

I know this year has got off to a slow start but I can truly say that this year is going to be my year, and I hope you are all exited to come along for the ride.

Until next time...

I've been a rubbish Blogger!

Hi Everyone! Long time no see!

Today is 10th December and I have posted all of about 3 blog posts this month. So much for Blogmas! I do apologize about the lack of posts this month!

I am so gutted that I couldn't fulfil my Blogmas promise. This month has been so unexpectedly busy for me. I haven't really had a moment to myself.

Everything has accumulated through the year really and unloaded on me this month. Not to bore you with my problems, but a lot has happened for me this month. To start it all off I think I am getting about 4 hours of sleep a night. I am normally someone that is in bed by 9 and needs at least 7 hours of sleep to function, so I am not really feeling 100% Sophie at the moment.

Another thing that has crept up on me this month is my eyes. Now some of you may or may not know that I wear glasses, and have done since I was about 12 years old. And I hate them. When I first got them I was so exited, finally something that would make me stand out, until I realized that I did not want to stand out and was happy sinking into the wallpaper. Over the past 6 years I have battled with my eyesight getting worse and new glasses nearly every year. As I hate wearing my glasses, over the past few years I have basically only worn them when I was on my own or not going anywhere. Which was probably the worst decision ever. This has made my eyes worse as I have basically harmed them from my own insecurities. So, this past weekend I went into Specsavers and picked out two pairs of glasses that I think really suit me. So fingers crossed the glasses insecurities will get a little bit smaller to make my life easier!

And on top of all this it is Christmas time. Parties, presents and family time. Everything that I don't seem to have the time for. I have not brought one Christmas present yet and Christmas is in 2 weeks. I am very behind. I find it hard to do Christmas shopping in the week as I work full time, then at weekends its all about socializing and seeing family. But to be honest, the idea of battling the shops less that 2 weeks before Christmas doesn't really sound like my idea of fun. So it looks like I am going to be doing ALOT online and having to pay over the odds for quick delivery before Christmas.

Even with everything going on I am still really looking forward to Christmas. This year me, my parents and my brother are spending Christmas with my Grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousins in Kent. I always love going up to visit them as I don't get to see my grandparents often as I am quite close to them.

All in all I think December is just going to get even busier as the month goes on. I do plan on blogging more in December as I had a couple of my monthly subscription boxes turn up on my door step yesterday that I am eager to open and review for you guys.

Until next time...

Blogmas Day 2 - Bloglovin

Hi everyone!

Some of you may or may not have heard of a website called 'Bloglovin'. It is basically a website that you can sign up to and link your blog to. It also allows you to follow many other blogs and read them in a very easy way.

When it comes to finding new blogs they have a section that you can click on a certain category for example beauty or food, and then it gives you a huge list of blogs under that certain category.  Its a great way of finding new blogs!

The way that your Bloglovin homage is set out is that it lists all of the recent blog posts from the blogs you follow. All you have to do is click on them and it opens the post in a new tab, making it easy for you to go straight back to your homepage to carry on reading other blog posts!

The reason that I decided to sign up to Bloglovin is that I had heard so many goo things about it and that it really gets your blog out there for people to read. It also has a widget that you can add you your blog so that it makes it really easy for people who come across your blog to follow you on Bloglovin meaning they can get your blog posts much easier than coming onto your blog!

So far my experience with Bloglovin has been great and I love to use it daily! If you have a Bloglovin account, follow me! There is a widget to the right hand side of my blog.

Until next time

Blogmas Day1 - November Favourites

Hi everyone!

The time has come for Blogmas! For those who don't know, Blogmas is basically blogging everyday until Christmas day! And as today is the 1st of December there is no better way to start of Blogmas then telling you all about my November favourites!

So November has been a fairly quite month for me so I have not tried out too many new products, but here are just a few that I have been reaching for basically everyday this past month.

Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara £10.50
I have literally fallen in love with this mascara! Mascara is not one of those products that I have many of, once I found Maybelline the falsies I thought that I would never use another mascara again, until I picked this one up on a three for two offer in boots earlier in the month, and I have found my one true love. The mascara claims to give you length and volume on your lashes.. FAST. And so it does. This mascara gives my lashes so much volume and makes them look so much better than they are, and it doesn't separate them at all, which is always a plus for me when it comes to mascara.

Elf Matte Lip Colour in Rich Red £3.95
This is such an amazing lip product. I am always scared to wear a matte lip in the winter time as I do tend to get dry lips and matte products highlight dry areas, but not this one. This is such a moisturising lip product in such a beautiful classic red colour. The lasting power is amazing, I can wear these to work, talk all day, eat and drink and they are still on my lips at the end of the day. I love this lip product so much I went and brought all the other colours! Whoops!

Beauty Blender £24
When make-up sponges became really popular earlier this year I didn't really get them. I didn't like the way they applied makeup and I thought they took to long to apply my foundation. I read that no other makeup sponge worked as well as the actual beauty blender. So after quite a while of contemplating I finally took the plunge and splurged on one. And by gosh I am glad I did. I don't really use this for foundation as I like to get that over and done with quickly, but I use it to blend in my concealer over my face and under my eyes. It is just a bloody fantastic product, it blends even the most stubborn of concealers and makes my face look flawless.

Revlon Colourstay Foundation for Combination/Oily Skin £12.99
I first brought this foundation about 18 months ago and used it so much that I used the whole bottle I had. Once that bottle was gone I just went from foundation to foundation, trying to find one that would give me a nice finish but also keep my oily skin at bay, and I never really found anything. I was wondering the isles of boots this month and I found this beauty again and remembered how much I loved it when I first had it. And I fell in love again. It gives such a good medium but buildable coverage and keeps my oily skin at bay. I only need to powder once a day, and that is about 6-7 hours after I first applied it. It doesn't slip off my face or make me look cakey. I am so glad I repurchased this foundation, as it is now my holy grail foundation.

Elf Tone Correcting Powder - Cool £3.95
I was slightly sceptical when purchasing this product. It does look quite scary because of the colours, but it does come out quite translucent. It is such a light and airy product. I like to put it on over my primer but under my foundation, just to even out my complexion and to mask any redness and dark spots. It basically does what it says on the tin. Its makes my skin look brighter and more awake. I don't think I could leave this out of my everyday makeup routine!

So there are all the things that I have been enjoying this month. Please let me know in the comments what your favourite products of November have been!

Happy Blogmas!

I have recently noticed that I have been gaining quite a few Twitter followers since starting my blog. Now, this may jut be a coincidence, but I do have a feeling that this is from people reading my blog.

Thank you to everyone that has followed me on twitter, other than this blog, that is probably the best place for blog updates. If you have followed me on twitter, tweet me and say hi and that you ready my blog. I would love to hear from you!

Blogmas

Hi Everyone!

My apologies for not blogging for a whole 10 Days, I have been so busy at work that all I want to do is fall asleep when I get home!

Now that things have calmed down in my life, I am hoping that they will spark up in my blogging life! I am raring to go with blogging and am really exited to get my blog off the ground.

In the past 10 days that I have been away I have reached a small achievement on my blog. 100 Views!! I know that to most people 100 views is nothing, something that they get in 2 minutes. But for me it is such an achievement. And I would like to thank all those people that have clocked on my blog.

As I am ready to put 100% into my blog I am going to be doing something very time consuming but what I think will be rewarding. As December is coming up I have decided to do Blogmas. You are most probably thinking ''I thought it was called Vlogmas'' well yes, it is, but seeing as I do not upload videos to Youtube. I have decided to blog everyday in December.

I have so many exiting posts planned, from make up hauls to carrying on my diary series. I hope that you all enjoy reading what it to come.

Until time...

10 Things that make me happy...

As the days are getting colder and the nights are getting darker, this time of year most people start to feel quite crappy really. It is official that summer is over and everyone is breaking out the boots and coats. As probably 99% of the population is feeling rubbish at the moment wishing they were back in summer, I am quite the opposite, I love autumn and everything that it brings.

This is what spurred me onto writing this blog post, as this time of year makes me very happy, I thought I would share with you 10 things that make me happy.

1. Getting into bed and watching YouTube videos, films, Netflix or TV.

2. Doing my make-up. I find it so therapeutic doing my make up and its something that really relaxes me.

3. People watching. I love to sit in a coffee shop and just people watch. Observing people going through their day to day lives is quite fascinating really.

4. Eating food that I like. Needless to say I love food. Everything about it (maybe that's why I am a bit of a larger lady). But eating something that I really enjoy makes me feel good.

5. Early evening walks with my dog. That makes me sound so sad! I love going out on walks on what people call the 'golden hour' when the sun is setting. To me, that's when the whole world seems calm and the countryside look so pretty.

6. Shopping. I am a self - diagnosed shopping addict. I love to shop. I don't think that I can go a whole week without parting with some money. May it be buying clothes, shoes, make-up or handbags, I just love to shop. I have always said that shopping is my sport!

7. Listening to music. Putting on my favourite playlist makes me so happy. Sad songs or upbeat songs, I love them all. At the moment my favourite albums to listen to are Wanted on Voyage by George Ezra (His voice makes me melt), Chapter One by Ella Henderson, and 1989 by Taylor Swift. All three are amazing albums that I listen to over and over again.

8. Sundays. I love them. On Sundays I try not to do anything, stay in my pj's all day. have a long lie-in, maybe go for a walk, not doing anything of importance and just taking time for myself. Bliss.

9. Making people laugh. I know that's something that would make most people happy, but it genuinely is something that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. I like to think of myself as a 'funny girl'. Not much to look at but she has good banter... that sort of girl. And whenever I am able to tell people jokes and make them laugh, it makes me feel like I have made someone's day a little bit better.

10. Guiding. I have been in the Brownie/Girl Guiding movement for 13 years now and I can honestly say it is the best thing ever. I was a brownie from the age of 5 to 10. Then once I turned 10 I moved onto Girl Guiding, which I did till I was 14. I then moved onto Rangers and now I am a Guide leader in training. A whole other blog post is due on guiding (which is on my list of posts to write), but honestly I find nothing makes me happier.

Thank you for reading about what things make me happy. Please comment or tweet me @SGT_23 things that make you happy.

Until next time...

Sophie

Make up

Why do you wear makeup?

This is a question that I get asked a lot, from friends and family. 99% of the time I moan about putting makeup on, it takes time, its expensive, I cant decide on what to use. This list of moans is endless. But, I do have good reasons to why I wear make up, and even though I moan about it, it is one of my loves in life.

I understand that it is what is on the inside that counts, but in all honesty I am 100 times more confident when I am wearing make up. I believe that everyone is beautiful on the inside, as cliché as it sounds, it is something that I truly believe in. But I also believe that it is not 'wrong' or 'vain' to want to wear makeup.

Makeup isn't just necessarily covering up your face, it is enhancing what you already have. For example making your eyes bigger and brighter by wearing mascara and choosing an eye shadow that compliments the colour of your eyes. It is quite a closed-minded thing to think that women just wear make up because of the way they look. Its is a form of expression.

I am completely happy with the way I look. I have dark circles under my eyes, acne, scars and discolouration on my face, but I am comfortable in my own skin. I can happily go out to the shops with no makeup on. Of course I think I look better with a bit of makeup on, but that is my personal opinion and choice.

What I am trying to get at is that you want to wear makeup? Brilliant, go for it, experiment with it. But also, you don't want to wear makeup? That's also brilliant, go you for being confident in your own skin!

Whatever your face looks like, it really is what is on the inside that counts.

Until next time...

Sophie

Diary #1

I am so bad at keeping a diary. Every January I make my new years resolution to keep a diary of my day to day life. For posterity. So I can look back in years to come and know what I did when I was younger. But every year without fail, the resolutions starts and ends in January.

Now that I have this blog I am determined to keep a track of my life. Albeit, this will not be as personal as what I would write in a diary, but alas, it shall be document parts of my life.

Some posts you may find really cool and exiting, and others you may find totally boring, but posts like this are all for my benefit.

So... that brings me onto today, the first of many (hopefully) diary posts. Bit nervous... but I shall just jump straight into it.

This week has been very busy, working full time, starting a new qualification and revising for a driving theory test alongside trying to keep my social life alive is proving to be very difficult. I want to be able to have free time to myself, but right now there seems to be no time for Sophie.

This weekend one of my best friends turns 19! (I literally cannot believe that she is turning 19, we have been friends since we were 11, time is really flying). Anyway, we are having a big night out in our home town on Saturday, I must get myself prepared for a big hangover on Sunday! (it's worth it).

Nothing much else is really happening in my life right now that is exiting enough to blog out. I'm looking forward to my brother coming home today. He has been away visiting friends this week. Although I do find him incredibly annoying most of the time, I like having someone in the house that is my own age and that I get along with.

Anyway, until next time...

Sophie
